PAGASA monitoring storm outside PAR
MANILA, Philippines — State meteorologists are monitoring a storm outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 3 p.m. yesterday, Tropical Storm Shanshan was spotted some 2,085 kilometers east of Central Luzon.
Shanshan was packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.
The weather disturbance will not enter PAR, but it may enhance the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, the easterlies are affecting the eastern section of the country. Isolated rains will prevail over Metro Maila and the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.
The public has been advised to watch out for flash floods or landslides that may occur during heavy downpours.
