MANILA, Philippines — The chief of the Taytay Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Rizal has been relieved from his post along with three others over a viral photo showing a fire truck refilling a swimming pool.

Lhot Bugador, chief information officer of the BFP-Calabarzon, said the relief of the fire officers was intended to prevent them from influencing the result of an investigation that is being conducted on the incident.

Bugador said the BFP-Calabarzon initiated the probe on orders of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr.

She said probers have yet to determine if the swimming pool is owned by a private resident or a resort.

“Based on my initial assessment, it was private, but let’s wait for the investigation to determine if it is owned by a resort or private resident,” Bugador added.

Abalos ordered the BFP to identify the fire officers who were shown in the photo refilling the pool with water from a fire truck of the Taytay BFP.
