BuCor has 94 new officers

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has recruited 94 prison guards who are training at the Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI) in Muntinlupa.

According to BuCor, the recruits, composed of 80 men and 14 women, started their training on Corrections Officer Custodial Basic Course on Aug. 12.

The recruits were from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm and other BuCor prisons.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. said he supports the “comprehensive implementation of mandatory training programs as part of the bureau’s modernization program.”

In July, up to 1,085 newly hired personnel were sworn in as corrections officer 1 after training at the CNTI.

Of the new corrections officers, 349 were assigned to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, 200 at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm, 200 at the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, 100 at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm, 140 at the Leyte Regional Prison and 96 at the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm.
