CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A transgender was nabbed for spreading his former boyfriend’s nude photos and videos.
In an operation conducted by the Anti-Cybercrime Unit in Calabarzon, 22-year-old Jerica was cornered by police in a drive-in hotel in Bacoor City, Cavite on Friday.
The victim sought police assistance when Jerica started sharing his nude photos and videos with friends and relatives after they broke up in July.
He said Jerica agreed to have his photos and videos deleted if they would meet at the hotel.
Jerica was charged with grave coercion and for violating Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Brig. Gen. Ronnie Cariaga, acting director of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), urged the public to avoid sending explicit photos or videos to anyone as these could be exploited and used for blackmail.
Cariaga also urged victims of coercion or online abuse to immediately report to the nearest PNP-ACG office for prompt assistance.
