MANILA, Philippines — The chief of police of San Simon town in Pampanga and six others were injured after a butane stove exploded at the station on Tuesday afternoon.
Aside from Maj. Leonardo Lacambra and two police officers, among those injured in the incident were two non-uniformed personnel and two civilians.
Reports said some of the victims were grilling pork belly at the police station when the explosion occurred at around 5:30 p.m.
Investigators expressed belief that the butane gas canister installed on the stove was leaking and caused the blast.
The victims were treated for first-degree burns in a hospital. Three of them were discharged shortly after receiving treatment.
The rest were advised to stay for further observation.
