DHSUD launches housing projects in Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — More housing projects under the Marcos administration’s Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program were launched over the weekend in Mindanao, according to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said housing officials on Saturday led the groundbreaking for two 4PH projects in Zamboanga City and Surigao del Norte.
The DHSUD inspected the project site of the Dreams Residences in Zamboanga City and signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the ongoing construction of the Vinta Residencia in Barangay Salaan.
The agency also launched the Sikat High Park Residencia in Barangay Layuhan, which is being implemented by the National Housing Authority (NHA).
The government is targeting to build 25,000 housing units under 4PH in Zamboanga City alone.
“The order of President Marcos is to focus on the implementation of the 4PH for our countrymen who are poor and dreaming of having their own home,” Acuzar said.
“Here in Mindanao, our planned township developments are great,” he added.
Acuzar yesterday joined Dinagat Islands Gov. Nilo Demerey Jr. and Dapa town Vice Mayor Gerry Abejo for the groundbreaking of and MOA signing for the Dapa Island Residences in Barangay Osmeña in Siargao, the first 4PH project in Caraga.
Last Friday, the DHSUD inspected an NHA project for Badjaos in Barangay Kasanyangan, Zamboanga City, and discussed how to improve the site.
Currently, there are 53 ongoing projects under 4PH that are mainly funded by the private sector.
The DHSUD said up to 1.2 million housing projects are in the pipeline.
It said it is targeting to complete up to 3.2 million housing units by 2028.
