MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man accused of illegally recruiting his compatriots to work for online gaming hubs fell into the hands of authorities.

Personnel from the Bureau of Immigration’s fugitive search unit arrested Wang Chuancong, 35, in his condominium unit along Roxas Boulevard in Parañaque on July 30, the BI reported yesterday.

Wang reportedly “heads a syndicate that facilitates the illegal departure of Chinese nationals by forging documents to facilitate their outbound travel in China,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.

Wang’s recruits would fly to other countries, including the Philippines, “to work in online gaming hubs,” according to Tansingco.

Wang is wanted in China as he was charged for human trafficking in April, the BI said.

His passport was also canceled by the Chinese government, making him an undocumented alien, the bureau added.

BI records showed Wang arrived in the Philippines as a tourist in February.

He is currently detained at the BI’s facility in Camp Bagong Diwa while awaiting his deportation.
