14 countries participate at 1st INSO in New Clark City

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines — Fourteen countries from the Asia-Pacific region are competing at the first International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) at the New Clark City in Pampanga.

At least 59 junior and senior high school students, who emerged as national winners in their respective countries, are competing in the event organized by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Nuclear Research Institute. The pioneering event runs from Aug. 1 to Aug. 6.

The participating countries include Bahrain, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iran, Jordan and the Philippines.

Also attending the nuclear science olympiad are 12 observers from various countries and 31 team leaders.
