MANILA, Philippines — Over 20 people were injured after authorities demolished shanties along F.B. Harrison street in Pasay yesterday afternoon.

More than 500 families living in 40 shanties were affected, with two people apprehended by police officers, initial reports said.

Only one lane of F.B. Harrison street was passable as debris from the demolition spilled onto the streets, according to the Pasay Traffic and Parking Management Office.

Residents said the local government failed to provide prior notice regarding the demolition. They alleged that there are plans to build a condominium on the land they are occupying.
