3 die in South Cotabato mishap

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Three women died while five others were injured in a vehicular accident in Koronadal, South Cotabato on Tuesday.

Rogela Bayang, 24; Rhealyn Hilaria, 21, and her sister Vivian, 18, were on separate motorcycles when they were hit by a pick-up truck of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

The victims died at the scene of the accident, which occurred along the Koronadal-General Santos Highway in Barangay Saravia.

Witnesses told probers that the truck overtook a tricycle before it hit the women.

Five passengers of the truck – James Enrejo, 38; Kenneth Fronda, 24; Reynan Lara, 40; Roderick Tapon, 49, and Ryan Tapon, 22 – were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

Truck driver Pelong Dangkalan was taken to the police station for questioning.
