MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Malabon has launched a week-long caravan to help families affected by flooding due to monsoon rains enhanced by Typhoon Carina.

The caravan started yesterday and will run until Aug. 3 in the worst-hit barangays of Catmon, Dampalit, Panghulo, Potrero, Tinajeros and Tonsuya.

The city health department will conduct a medical mission at the covered court of Panghulo where residents can avail themselves of free medical and dental assistance from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Free purified water will be available to residents. Mobile phone charging stations will also be set up in the area.

City hall will also deploy a mobile kitchen that will serve hot meals to the first 500 residents.

Medical missions will also be conducted in Tinajeros on July 30, Potrero on July 31, Tonsuya on Aug. 1, Dampalit on Aug. 2 and Catmon on Aug. 3.

The local government said residents may also avail themselves of civil registry consultations on legal documents, such as birth and marriage certificates that were lost during the typhoon.

Free medical services are available around the clock at the Ospital ng Malabon and in the city’s Super Health Centers for residents in need of medical assistance.
