Occidental, Catanduanes, Philippines — Moderate earthquakes jolted Davao Occidental and Catanduanes yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
State seismologists said a magnitude 4.6 temblor rocked Davao Occidental at 1:01 a.m. Its epicenter was located 467 kilometers south of Sarangani Island in Sarangani, Davao Oriental.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake was tectonic in origin with a depth of focus of 186 km.
Prior to this, a magnitude 4.3 earthquake hit Catanduanes at 12:56 a.m. The epicenter was located 29 km north of Bagamanoc, Catanduanes.
It was tectonic in origin, with a depth of focus of 10 km.
Phivolcs said no aftershocks were expected.
