Father kills daughter in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines — A 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death by her own father in Barangay Carig Norte here on Thursday.

Capt. Rosemarie Taguiam, Cagayan police information officer, said initial investigation showed that suspect Jude Ballad got angry after his daughter revealed to his wife, who is working abroad, his illicit affair.

Taguiam added that the girl went into hiding at her grandfather’s house when she learned that Ballad was out looking for her. Witnesses said the suspect barged into the house and stabbed her several times.

The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

Ballad fled to Caranglan town in Nueva Ecija, where he was surrendered by relatives to the police.
