MANILA, Philippines — A 10-year-old boy drowned after he fell in a river in Las Piñas City on Friday.

The Southern Police District (SPD) reported that the boy, whom it identified only as John Carlo, told his mother that he would use their toilet – which is located beside a river – in Barangay Elias Aldana at around 1 p.m

When John Carlo did not return, his mother reported the incident to barangay officials to locate him, police said.

At around 5:28 p.m., the boy’s body was retrieved from the river, the SPD said.

Police investigators said that the boy had drowned and his body had no external injuries.
