2 die in Ilocos road mishaps

MANILA, Philippines — Two people died in separate vehicular accidents in Laoag, Ilocos Norte on Wednesday night.

Police identified the fatalities as Romuel dela Cruz, 18, and Eugene Guerrero, 26.

Police said Dela Cruz and his companion, Ian Inocente, were in a sidecar driven by Alvin dela Cruz when one of the tires of their vehicle became detached as they were traveling in Barangay Balatong.

Alvin lost control of the vehicle, causing Romuel to fall onto the road.

The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Alvin and Inocente were not hurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, Guerrero was traveling in Barangay 51-B, Nangalisan district when his motorcycle crashed into a concrete post.

The impact threw the victim off the motorcycle. He was declared dead on arrival in a nearby hospital.

Investigation showed it was raining hard in the area when the accident occurred shortly before midnight.
