SAN ILDEFONSO, Bulacan, Philippines — The province’s first synoptic weather station, equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, was inaugurated here on Thursday.

Nathaniel Servando, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) chief, led the inauguration of the facility, which is also equipped with solar radiation sensors to measure bright sunshine duration and the total or global irradiance coming from the sun’s disk.

Servando said the facility also follows the standard protocol and practices set by the World Meteorological Organization on weather observation.

The weather station was constructed under a joint effort between PAGASA and the San Ildefonso government.
