MANILA, Philippines — A midwife was arrested in a sting in Muntinlupa on July 16 for allegedly selling a six-day-old infant on Facebook, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said yesterday.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the bureau’s Human Trafficking Division confirmed that Christina Paule was selling a newborn online for P25,000.

Paule faces charges of child abuse in relation to violating the laws on cybercrime prevention and human trafficking.

The newborn was placed under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region.
