MANILA, Philippines — The Christmas season came early for over 69,000 senior citizens in Valenzuela who started receiving their gifts from the city government.
Mayor Weslie Gatchalian said at least 69,025 senior citizens were listed as beneficiaries of their Pasko sa Hulyo Para Kay Lolo at Lola which was launched last July 12.
Each elderly person who is registered at the Office for Senior Citizen Affairs is entitled to 10 kilos of rice, harvested through a partnership with the Nagkakaisang Magsasaka ng Isabela Agriculture Cooperation from Isabela province.
“We love our senior citizens very much. We are not just giving away rice, but the rice we give is good and high quality,” Gatchalian said in a statement.
The distribution will run for five days covering all 33 barangays of the city.
To claim their gift, Gatchalian said recipients would have to bring their vouchers and OSCA identification cards to the designated venue.
