MANILA, Philippines — Police have secured additional pieces of evidence, which they believe will further strengthen the case against the suspects in the killing of Pampanga beauty contestant Geneva Lopez and her Israeli fiancé Yitshak Cohen.
Col. Jean Fajardo, spokesperson for the Philippine National Police, said evidence gathered by the special investigation task group (SITG) would be included in the criminal cases to be filed against the suspects.
Fajardo declined to give specific details about the additional evidence police have uncovered.
Seven people, including former police officers Michael Guiang and Rommel Abuso, were implicated in the murder of Lopez and Cohen.
Fajardo said charges would be filed against the suspects possibly next week, adding that the SITG wants an airtight case that would result in conviction.
