P10.9 million marijuana plants destroyed in Kalinga

MANILA, Philippines —  Up to 54,500 marijuana plants worth P10.9 million were uprooted and destroyed in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Sunday.

This developed after agents of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) and other police units raided a marijuana plantation in Barangay Ngibat.

The raid on a 5,250-square-meter property lasted eight hours,  from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., according to PDEG director Brig. Eleazar Matta.

No one was arrested during the raid.

Meanwhile, in Zamboanga del Sur, police seized shabu with an estimated street value of P170,000 following a sting in Labangan town.

The illegal substance was seized from Mark Angelo Baranggan, who was collared in Barangay Old Labangan at around 11:35 p.m.
