Señires named 5th Infantry Division commander

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Brig. Gen. Gulliver Señires replaced Maj. Gen. Audrey Pasia yesterday as commander of the Isabela-based Philippine Army’s 5th Infantry Division.

A member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1992, Señires served as commander of the 702nd Infantry Defender Brigade of the 7th Infantry Division in Central Luzon before taking the helm of the 5th ID.

Señires vowed to continue the work of Pasia and other past commanders toward attaining lasting peace, harmony and stability and inclusive development for the country.

He also vowed to support the efforts of the military and maritime forces amid a renewed focus on territorial defense.

Philippine Army commanding general Lt. Gen. Roy Galido presided over yesterday’s change of command. He commended the 5th ID for gallantry in confronting local and international groups, saying their selfless dedication and unwavering commitment are commendable.
