MANILA, Philippines — The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved a recommendation of the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to suspend the collection of toll at the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project (CAVITEX) from July 1 to 30, President Marcos announced yesterday.

In a post on social media X, Marcos said the decision applies to both RFID and cash payments and covers all parts of the expressway.

“We thank the TRB for its immediate action on the recommendation of the PRA. We also thank the MVP Group (of Companies) for supporting this proposal,” the President said.

The TRB is composed of the Departments of Transportation, Public Works and Highways and Finance as well as the National Economic and Development Authority and the private sector.

The PRA operates the CAVITEX, which is maintained by Cavitex Infrastructure Corp., a unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. led by Manny V. Pangilinan.

The President announced the proposed 30-day toll holiday during the inauguration of the MCTEP-C5 Link Segment 2 (R1 Expressway to Sucat Road, Parañaque).

He said the proposal covers all types of vehicles passing through the expressway in Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Bacoor and Kawit.

“We thank the PRA for helping mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs on our motorists. I count on the TRB to ensure the implementation for the benefit of the riding and the transport public,” Marcos said.
