LPA bringing rains over Mindanao

Romina Cabrera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — State meteorologists are monitoring a low-pressure area that has been bringing rains over parts of Mindanao.

As of 3 p.m. yesterday, the low-pressure area was spotted 235 kilometers east of General Santos City, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance was embedded along the intertropical convergence zone that has been affecting Mindanao.

Both weather systems are bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains over the island.

PAGASA said the low-pressure area is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone and may dissipate in the next few days.

The easterlies are bringing scattered rains over Bicol, Central and Eastern Visayas as well as the provinces of Aurora, Quezon and Quirino.

Isolated rains are forecast over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to easterlies.
