18,271 posts up for grabs in 2025 polls
MANILA, Philippines — There are 18,271 elective posts involving 14 different positions that are available in next year’s general elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said yesterday.
At the top of the poll body’s list are the 12 seats in the Senate. There are also 63 available seats for party-list representatives and 254 for congressional district representatives.
At the provincial level, there are 82 seats for governors, the same number for vice governors and 792 seats for provincial board members.
For the country’s cities, there are 149 seats for mayors, the same number for vice mayors and 1,682 for councilors.
There are 1,493 seats for mayors, 1,493 for vice mayors and 11,948 for councilors in the country’s municipalities.
The Commission added that in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, there are 32 parliament member seats and 40 party-list representative seats available.
Meanwhile, the Comelec also reported that there are now 3,777,577 applicants to become registered voters. The applications were filed between Feb. 12 and June 19.
The Comelec earlier projected that around three million Filipinos would apply to become registered voters during the allotted seven-month period.
The poll body reminded the public that voter registration is from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, in all Offices of the Election Officer nationwide from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The voter registration period for the 2025 elections started on Feb. 12 and will run until Sept. 30.
