MANILA, Philippines — A member of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) was arrested for alleged indiscriminate firing in Sampaloc, Manila yesterday.

Apprentice seaman Jeremy Busilan is facing complaints for illegal discharge of firearm and violating Republic Act 10591, National Capital Region Police Office director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.

Prior to Busilan’s arrest, an official of Barangay 464 heard a gunfire from a house along R. Papa street at around 1 a.m., Nartatez said in a message on Viber.

Barangay public safety officers went to the house where they saw Busilan drinking with other men.

Busilan initially denied he was the one who fired a handgun, but neighbors insisted that the gunshot came from the house.

The PCG member later admitted that he was the culprit.

Busilan was turned over to police for investigation.
