MANILA, Philippines — Criminal complaints were filed against a suspected gunrunner who was arrested in Quezon City, police said yesterday.

John Brando Pabon, 26, is facing charges of violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and Presidential Decree 1612, the Anti-Fencing Law, before the office of the city prosecutor.

Pabon was apprehended in an entrapment operation in Barangay Pasong Tamo at around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said.

Maranan said the operation against Pabon was based on a tip from a confidential informant that the suspect had been selling loose firearms in Quezon City.

An undercover police officer negotiated a deal with Pabong and the two met along Luzon Avenue.

After Pabon accepted the marked money, police placed him under arrest. A .38-caliber handgun loaded with three bullets was found on his person.
