Go launches Malasakit sa Kooperatiba program

MANILA, Philippines — In a significant boost for cooperative development across Cagayan Valley, Sen. Bong Go partnered with the Cooperative Development Authority for the rollout of the Malasakit sa Kooperatiba program.

Twenty-one cooperatives across the region received financial support amounting to P50,000 each in a ceremony held in Tuguegarao, Cagayan on Monday.

Mayor Maila Rosario Ting-Que and Enrile Mayor Miguel Decena were among the local officials who attended the event.

The program includes financial assistance for micro and small cooperatives under the Malasakit Sa Kooperatiba program.

In his speech, Go stressed the pivotal role of cooperatives in fostering community development and resilience, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting their growth.

The senator has been instrumental in advocating for policies and programs that enhance the development of cooperatives nationwide. He has played a key role in the enactment of Republic Act 11502, which declares October as National Cooperative Month, and RA 11535, which mandates the appointment of a cooperatives development officer at municipal, city and provincial levels.

Go thanked the cooperatives for supporting their communities as he expressed hope that the financial support would empower them to contribute to their communities, making them stronger and more self-reliant.

During the event, Go also extended tokens and support to cooperative members, including grocery packs, basketballs and volleyballs, shirts, watches, shoes, bicycles and mobile phones.
