BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A police officer was arrested after he allegedly shot dead his colleague in Barangay Tangub in this city.
The victim, a non-commissioned officer with the rank of staff sergeant, was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
Pat. Alvin Rios, 26, of the Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company was apprehended by responding police officers.
Maj. Eugene Tolentino, Bacolod police Station 8 chief, said the incident could be a crime of passion.
Initial investigation showed that the shooting occurred in the bedroom of a house owned by Rios and his former partner.
The suspect reportedly saw his former partner and the victim in the bedroom when he visited their six-month-old son.
