MANILA, Philippines — Criminal charges were filed against a 24-year-old woman who stabbed to death her employers, an elderly couple, in Pasig City on Thursday.
The suspect, whom police identified as alias Melca, underwent inquest proceedings before the Pasig prosecutor’s office, where two counts of murder and frustrated murder were filed against her.
The suspect was arrested after she stabbed her employers, a 75-year-old man and his 60-year-old wife, at the couple’s house in Barangay Pinagbuhatan at around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday.
She also stabbed the couple’s 18-year-old son, who survived.
Pasig police chief Col. Celerino Sacro Jr. said the suspect went on a stabbing spree using a butcher knife after the couple berated her about her sales in their liquefied petroleum gas store, where she works as a cashier.
The couple’s son, despite his injuries, ran outside and asked for help from a motorcycle rider, who in turn alerted the police.
The suspect was arrested by police while her employers were pronounced dead on arrival at the Pasig City General Hospital.
