Grade 10 student shot dead in Basilan town

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A graduating junior high school student was gunned down in Tipo-Tipo, Basilan on Thursday.

Fadzrie Ismael, a resident of Barangay Kuhun in Al-Barka town, suffered three gunshot wounds and died at the scene, police said.

Initial investigation showed Ismael was on a motorcycle parked in front of a gym when motorcycle-riding men arrived and shot him at close range.

Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing.

Mayor Arcam Istarul has ordered the police to speed up its investigation and bring the suspects to justice.
