COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Four farmers were killed while another was wounded in an attack by unidentified assailants in Tantangan, South Cotabato on Sunday night.

Marcelo Combiz, Ronald Vallespin, Argie Villorente and Jerry Yuarata died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Dumadalig.

Their companion, Freddie Tabamo, was rushed to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Police said the victims were having a drinking session when they were killed.

The assailants, who were reportedly armed with rifles, escaped after the incident.

Probers have yet to determine the motive for the attack. Investigation is ongoing.
