MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Makati yesterday started the distribution of grocery packs to 35,371 public school students who have completed academic year 2023-2024.

The grocery packs were given to public school students from kindergarten to senior high school, including the special education program.

In a statement, Mayor Abby Binay said the program started in 2020 as an incentive for public school students who completed their respective grade levels despite the challenges of the pandemic.

“We have decided to make this an annual incentive that students can look forward to at the end of each school year,” Binay said.

“We want to show our appreciation of the hard work and diligence of students and motivate them to continue doing their best every school year until they graduate,” she added.

According to Binay, 19,750 packs have been allocated for the primary level while 15,621 packs have been prepared for the secondary level.

The beneficiaries are from 16 public elementary schools and eight high schools in Makati.

The grocery packs contained a shirt, biscuits, cereals, oatmeals, pancakes, milk powder and instant noodles.
