Lightning strikes kill 3 senior citizens in Cagayan

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — Three senior citizens have died while another has been injured in lightning strikes in Cagayan.

Dante Seguro, 77; Rey Fabia, 66, and their unidentified companion were walking on their way home to Barangay Naddungan in Gattaran town when a thunderstorm occurred.

The three sought shelter under a tree, which was struck by lightning, killing Seguro and Fabia.

Alfredo Bruno, 67, of Barangay Namuccayan in Sto. Niño town was tending his cows when lightning struck.

Parts of Cagayan have experienced occasional moderate to heavy rain with lightning and strong winds in the past three days.
