MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go has supported recovery efforts for 373 families affected by fire in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan.

The victims received grocery packs, snacks, face masks, vitamins, shirts and balls for volleyball and basketball in Mendoza park amphitheater during his visit on Wednesday.

There were also select recipients of bicycles, shoes, watches and mobile phones.

The National Housing Authority (NHA) provided emergency housing assistance to qualified beneficiaries through its collaboration with the city government and Go’s office.

Through the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP), the NHA provides financial aid to beneficiaries who have suffered from fires and other disasters by assisting them in the purchase of materials needed to rebuild their homes.

Go highlighted the importance of EHAP, which he advocated and continues to support, to ensure that victims of disasters get the support they need from the government to reconstruct their homes.

He also acknowledged the efforts of local officials in Puerto Princesa led by Mayor Lucilo Bayron. He commended their dedication to protect and support their constituents during such challenging times.

Go said he is pushing the approval of Senate Bill No. 192, which he filed and seeks to institutionalize the Rental Housing Subsidy program.

Under the proposed measure, a housing and social protection program will be developed to provide disaster victims better and more affordable access to the formal housing market through the provision of rental subsidies provided by the government.
