‘Remember heroes on Day of Valor’

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — In commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor today, Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos recognized yesterday the sacrifices made by Filipino heroes who fought for the country’s freedom.

“(Filipinos should) recall the sacrifices and sufferings of our heroes who offered their lives for our freedom,” Santos said.

“They thought first of the sovereignty of the country, its liberation from invading enemies. They fought for rights and dignity. Let us remember them with gratitude and appreciation for what they have done for us. What we enjoy now – freedom and independence – are because of them,” he added.

The Antipolo prelate also called for peaceful resolutions to prevent war and conflict.

“Let us be resolved to denounce wars and conflicts, which will result in destruction and death. We work hard to foster and promote peace so that all would live in harmony, order and equality,” Santos said.
