PHLPost launches letter writing contest
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Postal Corp. is inviting young Filipinos to join the 53rd PHLPost International Letter Writing competition.
Interested participants have until April 5 to submit their entries.
Letter writing has been one of the outlets for young writers to develop their writing skills.
PHLPost said the winning piece would be forwarded to the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union and will compete against entries from other parts of the world.
The theme for this year’s contest is “Write a letter to future generations about the world you hope they inherit.”
All entries must be recent, unpublished and original letters. The entries must be written in English and should be handwritten.
The entry should not exceed 800 words and must contain the basic elements of a letter: heading, salutation, body of the letter, complimentary close and signature.
PHLPost reminded the participants to indicate in a separate sheet of paper the following information: number of words of the letter composition, the participant’s complete name and home address, gender of the participant, age and date of birth, colored digital photo in jpeg format, name and address of the school, including year or grade level of the participant and contact number of the school and the participant.
Entries should be placed in a brown envelope and submitted to PHLPost’s Domestic Express Mail Service and sent to the Office of the Postmaster General, Central Mail Exchange Center, Domestic Road, Barangay 193, Pasay City.
Entries sent through private couriers will automatically be disqualified.
Participants must register and attach a scanned copy of the original entry (PDF format) and his or her picture at https://tinyurl.com/PHLPost-Letter-Writing.
