MANILA, Philippines — A four-year-old girl died after she was hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Quezon City on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the victim was crossing J. Panganiban street in Barangay Sta. Lucia with two other minors when a Toyota Fortuner struck her at around 5 p.m.
A police investigator said the child told her mother that she would go outside their house with two other children.
“May bibilhin lang daw tapos tumawid sa kalsada,” the police officer said in an interview.
Bystanders brought the child to the Novaliches General Hospital where she was pronounced dead at around 5:48 p.m.
Police took into custody the SUV driver, a 30-year-old man from Montalban in Rizal, for investigation.
The driver may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide if the victim’s family decides to pursue the case.
