Guns, drugs seized in Laguna raid

MANILA, Philippines — High-powered firearms and illegal drugs were seized in a raid on a house at a subdivision in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna on Friday.

Armed with a search warrant issued by a court in Dasmarinas City, members of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) raided the house at 5 a.m.

CIDG director Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said the target of the operation was a 57-year-old businessman who was allegedly keeping loose firearms.

Also arrested were the businessman’s 26-year-old son and two other people.

A 7.62mm caliber rifle, a .22-caliber rifle, two Garand rifles, three 9mm pistols and two .45-caliber pistols were allegedly recovered from the suspects.

Hundreds of bullets were also seized.

Caramat said big volumes of marijuana, shabu and cocaine were also discovered.

The suspects were brought to the CIDG-National Capital Region field unit at Camp Crame for investigation. ­
