LTO summons road rage suspect
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) yesterday issued a show-cause order against a motorcycle rider who slashed the tire of a delivery van in another case of road rage that went viral on social media.
LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division head Renante Melitante issued the show-cause order against the rider who was identified through the license plate of the Yamaha Sniper (851QBN), which was seen in the video.
“Due to the gravity of the acts of the rider, the motorcycle will be placed under alarm while the case is being investigated,” the order read.
Melitante summoned the registered owner of the motorcycle, a resident of Malabon City, to appear before the LTO central office in Quezon City on March 25.
LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said the issuance of the show-cause order should serve as a reminder to motorists not to engage in violence as a result of road rage.
In the viral video, the motorcycle rider was seen arguing with the driver of a delivery van before the suspect took a knife and pierced the front tire of the vehicle along East Avenue in Quezon City.
Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said they have coordinated with the LTO to identify the motorcycle rider.
