LRT-2, MRT-3 release 2024 Holy Week operating schedule
MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will both implement limited operations two weeks from now to make way for its annual maintenance activities during Holy Week.
In a release last Friday, the LRT-2 management said that it will shorten its operations on Holy Wednesday, March 27, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
No operations will be held within the LRT-2 system from March 28 to 31 (Maunday Thursday to Easter Sunday).
"Meanwhile, REGULAR OPERATIONS will return in the LRT-2 starting April 1, 2024," said the LRT-2 in Filipino.
However, the MRT-3 will not shorten its trips, and instead will operate during regular operating hours during Holy Wednesday — with its last train trips at 9:30 p.m. from North Avenue Station and 10:09 p.m. from Taft Avenue Station.
"MRT-3 operations will be suspended from Maundy Thursday, March 28, until Easter Sunday, March 31, to give way for the rail line's annual Holy Week maintenance activities," said the privately-owned line.
"MRT-3 will resume its normal operations on Monday, April 01, with first train trips scheduled at 4:30 am from North Avenue Station, and 5:05 am from Taft Avenue Station."
The LRT-1 and Philippine National Railways, on the other hand, have yet to release their schedules.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) earlier said that it would deploy over 11,300 police officers around Metro Manila from March 25 to ensure the safety of the Filipino public during the Lenten season.
Many Filipino Catholics and non-Catholics alike return to their home provinces during this period, either reflecting or spending time with family in vaction trips.
