MANILA, Philippines — A woman and her daughter reported missing in Tayabas, Quezon last month were found dead on Thursday.

The bodies of Lorry Litada, 54, and daughter Mai Motegi, 26, were found buried in a shallow grave at the back of a house in Barangay Isabang, Area Police Command Southern Luzon director Lt. Gen. Rhoderick Armamento told reporters in a message on Viber.

Police took into custody Litada’s sister, Ligaya Pajulas, the owner of the house, who is considered a person of interest in the case.

The two victims were last seen at Pajula’s house on Feb. 20 after arriving from Japan.

Armamento said Litada and Pajulas reportedly had an argument. He did not elaborate.

Lt. Col. Bonna Obmerga, Tayabas police chief, said the money of the victims amounting to P5 million, which was supposed to  be used to pay for the house and lot they bought in San Narciso town, is missing.
