MANILA, Philippines — Up to 168 people were resued from a roll-on roll-off vessel that ran aground in the waters off Romblon on Sunday night.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said the motor vessel SWM Salve Regina had 168 passengers and 55 officers and crewmembers on board.
The vessel was loaded with 21 rolling cargoes when it departed the port of Magdiwang in Romblon at around 9 p.m.
The vessel was headed to Romblon town.
All passengers and crewmembers were in good physical condition, the PCG said.
The passengers were brought to the Romblon Public Plaza at around 3:45 a.m. The captain and crewmembers stayed behind to monitor the Salve Regina.
No signs of an oil spill or flooding were reported from the vessel.
