MANILA, Philippines — Taking proactive measures to address flooding during the rainy season, the local government of Navotas has opened three more pumping stations in the city.
Navotas now has 72 pumping stations all over the city, ready to pump water out during heavy rains.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco led the blessing and inauguration ceremony of the new pumping stations in Barangays San Roque, Daanghari and North Bay Boulevard South.
Tiangco said the new stations will help ease flooding in the three barangays during a downpour and high tide.
He urged residents to take care of the pumping stations by practicing responsible waste disposal to prevent clogging.
Also present during the inauguration were Vice Mayor Tito Sanchez, barangay chairpersons, city department heads, and representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways.
