PDEA gets 4 more K9 dogs
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) got an added boost to its operational capabilities with the acquisition of four narcotics detection dogs on Wednesday.
Surigao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, who chairs the House committee on dangerous drugs, donated the drug-sniffing dogs.
Barbers was represented by Francisco Ramos Jr., a skilled K9 trainer, during the turnover ceremony at the PDEA headquarters in Quezon City.
The PDEA thanked Barbers, saying the drug-sniffing dogs would boost the monitoring and interdiction capabilities of its personnel at airports and seaports conducting searches on baggage, cargoes and parcel.
According to PDEA, the dogs can also be utilized during events monitoring and greyhound operations in prisons and custodial facilities.
