CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, Philippines — Two workers died of suffocation while digging a well in Barangay Balawag in Tabuk, Kalinga on Wednesday.
Maj. Prudencio Atas, spokesman for the Kalinga police, identified the fatalities as Ernesto Banua and Eduardo Ramirez.
Reports showed that Banua felt dizzy and asked help from Ramirez. However, Ramirez also felt dizzy and suffered difficulty in breathing.
The companion of the victims, Jorge Carita, told police that the workers were not using protective gear.
Banua and Ramirez were declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
