MANILA, Philippines — The crime volume in Quezon City has decreased by 54.05 percent, police reported yesterday.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD)’s data showed there were 17 crimes recorded from Feb. 26 to March 3.

The figure is lower compared to 37 crime incidents documented from Feb. 19 to 25.

The eight focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, theft, robbery, car theft and motorcycle theft.

The crime clearance efficiency also went up by 100 percent compared to 97.3 percent in the previous week.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan attributed the decrease to their intensified campaign against all forms of criminality.

He commended the police stations under their command for maintaining law and order in their areas of jurisdiction.

“Your diligent efforts have significantly contributed to the overall decrease in crime rates in Quezon City,” Maranan said in a statement.
