MANILA, Philippines — A 70-year-old man was killed after he went amuck and hacked a woman and her son in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City on Sunday night.

Police identified the fatality as Jesus Nonong.

Probers said Nonong and his neighbor, Edelix Umipig, 28, got into a fistfight at around 6:30 p.m.

Nonong went to the barangay hall to file a complaint against Umipig.

Nonong went back to Umipig’s house and quarreled with the latter’s mother, Ma. Estrella.

Armed with a bolo, Nonong allegedly hacked the elder Humipig, cutting off her left hand.

Edelix arrived and wrestled for the weapon with Nonong.

Edelix said he killed Nonong in self-defense. He is being guarded by police in the hospital.
