Go aids Davao fire victims

MANILA, Philippines — In observance of Fire Prevention Month, Sen. Bong Go has emphasized the importance of safeguarding homes against fire risks.

Go urged the public to adhere to safety precautions to ensure their well-being and protection from danger.

Last Friday, Go’s Malasakit Team conducted a relief activity at the Kapitan Tomas Elementary School for victimsof a fire that broke out in Barangay 34-D, Poblacion district, Davao City.

The team distributed snacks, grocery packs, water containers, shirts, vitamins, and basket and volley balls to 78 fire victims. Shoes, a mobile phone and a watch were given to select recipients.

During the event, the National Housing Authority identified beneficiaries of an emergency housing assistance.

The Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Labor and Employment evaluated potential beneficiaries for their respective livelihood assistance programs.

Personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development assessed the needs of the fire victims for provision of further financial assistance.

As the primary author and co-sponsor of Republic Act 11589 or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021, Go assured the victims of assistance from the government.
