Valenzuela warehouse fire put out after 23 hours

MANILA, Philippines — A fire at a warehouse in Valenzuela City that started on Friday was doused by firefighters on Saturday afternoon, nearly 23 hours after it started.

The fire at UB Trading Phil. Inc. in Barangay Paso de Blas was put out at 1:56 p.m., the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)’s National Capital Region field unit said in a report.

The fire started on Friday at 3:15 p.m. and reached the third alarm at 3:46 p.m., the BFP said. It was controlled on Saturday at around 7:25 a.m. and doused just before 2 p.m.

Mayor Weslie Gatchalian visited the storage facility on Friday afternoon for an initial assessment.

No one died or was injured in the blaze, the BFP said.

Arson probers are conducting a follow-up probe to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage to property.
