Fake cop arrested in Cavite sting

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A man posing as a police official was arrested in an entrapment in Silang, Cavite on Thursday.

Jonaldo Peñamayor, 51, was wearing a police uniform when he was collared and disarmed by intelligence operatives in Barangay Biga 2, Lt. Col. Louie Gonzaga, Silang police chief, said.

Gonzaga said Romeo Macapinlac, 44, sought police assistance, saying Peñamayor asked for a monthly allowance in exchange for protection of his construction company.

Charges of usurpation of authority and illegal possession of firearms were filed against Peñamayor.
